The Diabetes Diet – Healthy Diabetic Eating

The Diabetes Diet – Healthy Diabetic Eating

To be clear, there is not one official diabetes diet. Instead, we are looking at a series of guidelines set  by the American Diabetes Association to help diabetics get control of their blood sugar, whether they take insulin or not. This diet also induces weight loss at the same time for diabetics who are overweight.

Before proceeding with any diet consult your doctor. He or she is a starting player on your diabetes management team, right alongside you.

Your particular dietary requirements will depend on many factors, such as:

1. Your type of diabetes
2. Other risk factors present (obesity, heart disease, kidney disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc.)
3. The need for insulin, or not
4. Management with medication, or only diet and exercise
5. Sedentary lifestyle or active lifestyle

So, let’s start with the makeup of your average meal. The plate can be divided into three sections: protein, fats, and carbohydrates. Sounds pretty standard huh?

Carbohydrates are what supply the sugars that the body will use as fuel after the food is broken down.

At least 55-60 percent of your meal will be carbohydrates. And, these are not just any carbohydrates. You are encouraged to eat foods that are high in fiber and low in calories. Think vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and beans. Be sure that your food is definitely whole grain and not just processed white flour dressed up to look like a beneficial whole grain.

Fats are needed by the body in many capacities. The most beneficial fats are those that are poly- and mono-unsaturated. Try olive oil, canola oil, vegetable oil, and peanut oil. Omega-3 fatty acids are used by the body for heart health and immunity. Fish is a major source especially cold water fish. Aim for about 25-30 percent of your meal.

Protein is a building block in the body. All of the cells need access to protein for one reason or another. Try lean meat, fish, and dried beans, peas, and lentils. Protein, at most, needs to make up about 20 percent of your meal.

Meals are coordinated with insulin injections and timing of medications to get the most use of them.  There are also snacks you can eat before bed or when you awake to keep blood sugar within normal levels. Exercise, which can lower your blood sugar, also has to be factored into the equation of eating and insulin.  For the Type 2 diabetic, losing weight can bring you one step closer to possibly stopping any sort of diabetes medication for good.

If you are diabetic and need to control your blood sugar, a special diet is in order for you. There is not one single diet that qualifies as a diabetic diet, but the above guidelines will help you know in which direction you need to go. Your doctor and nutritionist will help you develop a plan that works for you.

3 Day Tuna Diet: Theres Nothing Fishy About This Diet Plan

Your 3 day tuna diet is one of the most popular and most effective quick weight loss plans available, but is it right for you? Well, first of all, you need to be able to stand the taste and smell of tuna. Otherwise it may well end up being the 3 day no food diet instead of the 3 day tuna diet.

Tuna has long been a staple of many diets, and with good reason. Tuna is inexpensive, it’s easy to carry with you and eat, it’s good for you and eating a lot of it will make you popular with cats. The last part may not be strictly necessary for weight loss. Because of this, it’s no surprise that people like the 3 day tuna diet.

Although there are many good reasons to make tuna a regular part of your health and fitness regime, the 3 day tuna diet is a little different. The point of this diet is to lose weight as quickly as possible for three days, and because of this, it’s usually most useful for people who want to lose a couple of pounds before a big event, or to get bikini ready for the beach.

If you follow the 3 day tuna diet as described, you’ll probably lose around six pounds and notice your midsection becoming notably tighter. This is because the diet helps you lose water weight, fat weight and cleans your intestines, which means it’s perfect for looking good.

That said, the 3 day tuna diet is not for everyone. If you are significantly overweight, the diet will still help you get a jump start on weight loss, but it is not intended to be any kind of long term weight loss program. You will need to find something works for the longer term.

There are two basic versions of the 3 day tuna diet, the strict version and the super strict version. The super strict version is as Spartan as it sounds and must not, under any circumstances, be continued for more than three straight days.

On the super strict version, you eat only water packed tuna and drink only water. This is very difficult to do, even for three days, but it will absolutely maximize weight loss. You may drink as much water as you like, and more is better, and you can eat as much tuna as you like, but you may have nothing else.

Your less strict version of the 3 day tuna diet is much easier and ultimately much healthier. For breakfast, you have half a cup of tuna and half of a large grapefruit. For lunch you have another half of cup of tune and a medium salad, greens and veggies only, with virgin olive oil as your dressing. For dinner, you have a whole cup of tuna, and one cup each of two different kinds of vegetables, steamed, and garnished with real butter. It’s important to make sure you’re getting the right kinds of fats.

That’s the basics of the 3 day tuna diet, and if you’re going to try and use it long term, make sure you try and follow a 3 on, 4 off method so you don’t experience any metabolic slowdown, and never do the super strict version more than once a month.

Discover How Easy a 3 Day Detox Diet Will Make You Feel and Look Better

Have you been looking for the fastest, safest and easiest way to feel better and look better? This article will provide you the right way to go about it.

A 3 day detox diet is a fantastic way to quickly clean out your system without committing to a long term diet change. Diets that go for any longer than a few days are notoriously hard to stick to, but if you know in your mind, that you must only stick to it for three days then amazingly it becomes more of a pleasure than a chore.

Actually the overall plan is extremely simple and very easy to execute. There are several varieties of this diet and it’s up to you to choose the one that suits your tastes and lifestyle. However, you must stick to the exact diet though; otherwise your detoxification process will be ruined.

Day 1

This is the day to cleanse the system. Getting rid of all that build up is the toughest part, but you start by drinking water first thing in the morning. After that, water is all you drink besides some fresh fruit juice (and ONLY fresh, no added sugars!). Breakfast should be a light wholegrain cereal and fruit, lunch can be some veggies and fresh fish (grilled) and dinner a similar menu. Salad is allowed as are fruits but the order of the day is vegetables and water – these are fantastic elimination products. You should be exercising on day 1 – a brisk walk for 30 minutes will do the trick.

Day 2

Today is the day to build upon the detoxification process that is well underway. You don’t want to stop it now, so it is impetrative to keep drinking water and lots of it. No coffee or tea are allowed during this entire process, nor is junk food (obvious but should be pointed out!). Did I hear a groan on that last one? Get over it! You want to feel good and look better don’t you?

Breakfast today should consist only of fresh fruit and water. A green salad is great for lunch and steamed fish and vegetables for dinner. After today you will start feeling amazing and your skin will start to look clearer after just two days on this ultra healthy diet. You’ll also lose the bloated feeling around the stomach.

Day 3

Water and fruit rule day three. You may feel very hungry today but that’s ok, your body is finally cleaning out all those toxins. Keep going and get through today without exerting much energy. Vegetables for dinner will ensure your body does not crave food overnight.

Your 3 Day Detox diet seems very sparse, but remember it is only for three days and the whole idea is to cleanse your body. By not eating foods which have chemicals or other unnatural substances in them, you’re giving your body a totally natural diet, the way it was intended to be. Now go take a look in the mirror, give yourself a high five, because you’re feeling better and you’re looking hot.

Tips For You On Weight Loss Products

Tips For You On Weight Loss Products

In this day and age, if a you want to lose weight, you can do so with a lot of outside help. You can do this in the form of exercise, food regulation, weight loss products and programs and weight loss medicine. A ton of weight loss products are now readily available in the market for your use. But with the numerous products for losing weight available in the market, which ones are effective and which ones are not?

Choosing the wrong ones can be dangerous and create more problems than you just trying to lose weight. There are weight loss pills, drinks, patches and weight loss diets. Which ones work and which ones work longer?

Weight loss products include drinks usually marketed as diet supplement drinks, meant to replace food for a meal. Herbalife products are meant to replace 2 meals everyday with the Herbalife shakes, mixed with nonfat milk, and Herbalife tablets. Ultra Slim Fast recommends drinking two shakes a day and food intake of a snack and dinner of 500 to 650 calories and an exercise plan.

Other supplement drink products are also available in the market and offer the same things as Herbalife and Ultra Slim Fast. However, these products do not come without side effects. Many users have reported that they still feel hungry after drinking these products. And because these products do not really aid in teaching users about proper and healthy, long-term eating, most users give up these products and eventually gain back the weight they’ve already lost.

There are also weight loss products in the form of pills as supplements. Diet pills containing Ephedra claim to aid in weight loss simply by taking a certain number of pills daily. Green tea extract supplements are pills with ingredients extracted from green tea and enhances weight loss. There are other products like this but one thing they have in common is that these products do not automatically guarantee weight loss.

Most of the time, these products are not even proven to be safe and effective for losing weight. There are some weight loss pills that are better than most pill products. These are usually diet pills that contain PPA, glucomannan supplements and chitonan supplements. These products have been effective because they usually instruct users to pair the weight loss pills with a low-fat, calorie-reduced diet.

Before deciding to try these weight loss products or deciding what to try, make sure you do research on the product and its ingredients first. Be sure to consult with the US Food and Drug Administration for the safe ingredients and the ones to watch out for. Once decided, make sure to follow instructions carefully.

Misuse or mishandling the product can result in having more health problems. And users must also remember that these weight loss products are not the only factor in losing weight. They simply aid in weight loss and will not do all the work. The work still has to come from a determination to lose the undesired weight.
